CUSTOM ORDER

Custom Commission

Many of our finest instruments are now created through custom commissions, allowing players to work directly with us in a more personal and collaborative process. Available across our Private Stock, Award Winning, and select Master Build collections, each commission becomes a personally crafted instrument shaped around your tonal vision, preferred model, materials, and finish.

Custom commissions have become an important part of our work, with many of our finest instruments created directly for players worldwide. To begin a commission, simply contact us through our contact page to discuss your preferred model, current maker availability, and your overall preferences. Depending on the instrument, this may include pattern selection, varnish style, and other custom details. Throughout the process, we provide progress updates and final audio/video presentation upon completion.

Tonewood:

Well-aged premium tonewood is selected according to the instrument and maker, typically including Italian or Swiss spruce paired with carefully selected Bosnian maple. In certain cases, visual preferences such as flame character or specific aesthetic direction may be discussed, while final material selection remains guided by acoustic suitability and the maker’s judgment.

Varnish:

Traditional oil varnish is offered in either antique or pristine finishes, depending on the model and artistic direction of the commission. As each instrument is individually crafted, slight variations in appearance are part of the natural character of handmade work.

Ordering/lead time:

Lead time varies depending on maker availability, commission complexity, and varnish curing requirements, but is typically in the range of 4–6 months. Throughout the making process, we provide progress updates, with final audio/video presentation upon completion.
